I wrote this poem in reflection to being let down by people, enjoy.
I can see.
I take in things as they come
I understand the interworking of the conundrum.
I choose not to see.
I would rather be blind to the tragedy,
Than be able to see you in all honesty.
I would rather give out hope.
Hope in humanity,
and ignore the insanity.
I would rather believe.
Believe in the good,
and hope your just misunderstood.
I know your intentions
I know who you really are
And all that you stand for.
I can see the pain you will cause,
and I ignore the instincts because I have hope.
Hope that will you not be
the man that I see.
This is not a fault of mine,
don’t be confused.
This is a fault of you
You reinforce the stereotype.
You hand out prejudice,
Because it can’t stand without us.
Showing the true nature of mankind,
You reveal what I see.
I will continue to turn my head
in hopes that my stereotypes will be shed.
I hope that you will
hope that you will give me a reason to hope
a reason to believe than man has the right intentions.
I don’t want to see
Don’t want to see the cruelty
not the brutality.
but honesty.
Give me a reason to hope,
a reason to believe.
Turn my sight into paranoia,
‘Cause I would rather be crazy.
Rather be crazy than to know the intentions of you.
